Run LOViT 100K Race
On Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 8:00 AM, about 50 trail runners from across the region will line up to start the inaugural Lake Ouachita Vista Trail 100k Endurance Run. Over the next 18 hours, participants will cover 62 miles of rocky, rolling hills and ridge lines along the southern rim of Lake Ouachita on the current LOViT trail.
The event is the first 100k endurance run in the state and has attracted a field of runners from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas, and, of course, Arkansas. Plans are in place to expand the 2015 event to include the ever-popular 100 Mile distance, becoming the second such event in Arkansas.
The 2014 course begins at the Crystal Springs Pavilion on North Crystal Springs Road about 15 miles west of Hot Springs. From the Crystal Springs trailhead, runners will cover the western section of LOViT all the way to Denby Bay, return back to Crystal Springs and cover the eastern side to Brady Mountain Road before turning back to the finish at Crystal Springs Pavilion. During the event, participants will receive aid from 8 volunteer-staffed stations along the course.
The LOViT 100k is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization through the Road Runners Club of America group exemption status with the IRS. Proceeds are reinvested in event growth and trail development and maintenance.
